Solskjaer has admitted that he would welcome a return to United, having left in 2021. Ten Hag is under pressure at Old Trafford after a middling start to the season; they drew 1-1 with FC Twente in their opening Europa League game this week, and sit 11th in the Premier League, having won just two of their first five Premier League fixtures.

Ten Hag insisted that the "points will come" for United as the season rolls on, saying so after their 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace, but Solskjaer admits he would be ready and willing to return to Old Trafford if asked.

WHAT SOLSKJAER SAID

Solskjaer told an audience at the Oslo Business Forum: “If your family asks you, you say yes every day of the week. It feels wrong to talk about jobs other people have. But I say yes.”
